Gentlemen.
Best thanks for sending me the two copies of the new part of your R. S. proceedings,
which as usual is replet with novel records and original observations. It was with
regret, that I saw myself deprived through other urgent engagements to contribute
to these pages. As however the msc. for the “Key to the system of Vict. plants”
will likely be completed in August now, and be through the press by October, I have
every prospect of being able, to work on new plants in the last portion of this year,
and will not fail then, to offer some article also to the R. S. of NSW. I am sorry,
that I cannot attend at the Adelaide-Exhibition,
nor at the medical Congress,
for the latter of which I was to have written by special desire a therapeutic essay;
but it is not
safe
for me with my pulmonary sufferings to travel at the cool season, and it is very
doubtful, whether even in the warmth of summer I could take out of my time late in
life

, needful to visit Adelaide.
