My dear Baron,
You will be glad to know that Mr Cuthbertson started from here on Wednesday 20 Inst
for Slapakapa
en route
for Mount Obree.
The cutter which took him to Slapakapa has returned this afternoon so that we know
of his safe arrival there. He has made a good start under favorable conditions and
is sure to give a good account of himself.

You may feel some disappointment that he is going to Mt Obree instead of the highest
mountain in the range but I think he has a fair prospect of getting to a much greater
height on his present route than he could possibly have done this season on Mount
Owen Stanley —
I suppose Mr Chalmers will arrive in Melbourne about the time you get this and you
will be sure to see him —
With kind regards
I am
Yours sincerely
