dos Algarves etc, vos Envio muito saudar. Attendendo aos vossos distinctos merecimentos
e qualidades e Querendo Dar-vos um publico testemunho da Minha Consideração e apreço
em que Tenho os generosos donativos que haveis feito ao Museu de Lisboa de importantes
collecções de productos zoologicos de Australia: Hei por bem, Annuindo á proposta
do Ministro e Secretario d'Estado dos Negocios Extrangeiros, Elevar-vos á Dignidade
de Gran Cruz da Real Ordem Militar Portugueza de Nosso Senhor Jesus Christo. O que Me pareceu participar-vos para vossa intelligencia e satisfação, e para que
possaes desde já uzar das respectivas insignias vos Mando esta Carta.

Baron Ferdinand von Müller, naturalist, German subject. I, the King of Portugal and
of the Algarves etc, send you greetings. In view of your distinct merits and qualities
and wishing to give you public testimony of my consideration and the esteem I have
for the generous donations you have made to the Lisbon Museum of important collections
of zoological products from Australia: I deign, agreeing to the proposal of the Minister
and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, to raise you to the dignity of the Grand
Cross of the Portuguese Royal Military Order of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
This my decision I communicate to you for your knowledge and satisfaction and in
order that from now on you may use the respective insignia I send you with this letter.
