Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Antarctic Exploration', Sydney morning herald, 2 September 1886, p. 12. The letter follows immediately after the text of M to R. Armstrong, 27 August 1886 (in this edition as 86.08.27b). It is introduced by 'Captain Armstrong replied as follows:—'.
29th August, 1880.
My dear Baron von Mueller,-
Your very complimentary and thoughtful letter reached me to-day.
Touching the suggestions shadowed forth in your note, many of them are doubtless peculiarly applicable to the circumstances of the islands you mention; but, in addition, it occurs to me to enumerate a few matters I should deem very urgent. I have obtained to-day a copy of the proceedings of the Geographical Society with your address, and I will now be able to master the details of your proposals, and in a day or two write you fully my views on the subject.
Yours, &c,
Richard R. Armstrong."
