Lassen Sie meinen besten Glückwunsch zu Ihrem herannahenden Geburtstag ausgesprochen sein, edler Freund, und lassen Sie an die Gratulation den innigen Wunsch geknüpft sein, dass die göttliche Vorsehung Sie noch lange in fröhlicher Rüstigkeit der Wissenschaft u Ihrem theueren Familienkreise erhalte.

Es war meine Absicht, diesen Glückwunsch mit einer schönen Pflanze als Dedication zu begleiten; aber ich habe in den letzten Monaten nicht oder kaum an den Papuanischen Sammlungen arbeiten können, da man mich hier officiell drängt, einen Schlüssel des Systems der Pflanzen Victoria's für Excursionen zu liefern, so dass ich eben jetzt dieser Arbeit irgend freie Stunden widmen muss. Die Dedication soll aber jedenfalls im Lauf des Jahres statt finden.

Ihre prächtige Abhandlung über hat mich erreicht. Welch ein schöner Beitrag wieder zum Ausbau des Systems der russischen Flora!

Meine Illustrationen der Myoporinen sind nun endlich fast fertig beim Binder, so dass ich Ihnen mit nächster Post ein Exemplar zu senden hoffe

Ihre Wünsche für Faserstoffe sollen berücksichtigt werden. Die London-Ausstellung hat Alles erschöpf. Mit Ihrem Flachs u Hanf kann hier nichts Einheimisches concurriren, weder in schneller Production, noch Stärke, noch leichter Behandlung; aber das Neuseeländ. , hier cultivirbar, u. Einiges Andere ist practisch wohl auch lohnend verwendbar.

Regel's 71st birthday was on 13 August 1886.

and with the congratulation let me combine the sincere desire that divine Providence will preserve you for a long time yet in cheerful vigour for science and for your dear family.

It was my intention to accompany my congratulations by the dedication of a beautiful plant, but during recent months I have not or have hardly been able to work on the Papuan collections, as I am pressed officially here to deliver a Key to the system of Victorian plants for excursions, so that just now I have to devote any free hours to this work. The dedication will certainly be made during the course of this year.

has exhausted everything. Nothing indigenous here can compete with your flax and hemp, either in rapid production or in strength, or in ease of handling; but the New Zealand , , can be cultivated here, and some others are of practical use as well as being worth the trouble.
