The Royal Bavarian Academy
of
Letters and Sciences
In a disposition of 20 June has co-opted you, Baron Ferdinand von Mueller,
overseer of botanical matters in the Australian realm, as a foreign Member on account
of outstanding services in the science of plants, particularly Australian ones.

Literally 'free Baron', presumably a reflection of the original German of M's title,
'Freiherr'.
After this new fellowship among us was confirmed by Royal authority on 24 July, we
took care that this letter, drawn up under the seal of our Academy, be sent to you
as witness of this matter.
