Chief Secretary.
Sir,
I have the honor to solicit, that you will kindly authorize the payment of £2.15.6
to the widow of the late Mr. Ch. Groener,
that being the amount due for his services in February last up to the day of his
sudden death.

On 26 March the Chief Secretary, G. Berry. minuted: 'I recommend to His Excellency
the Governor in Council that the sum of £2.17s.5d (two pounds, seventeen shillings
and five pence) due to the estate of Charles A. Groener, deceased, late Assistant
in the office of the Government Botanist, be paid to his widow Louisa Groener, without
requiring her to take out letters of administration.' This was approved on the same
day and on 2 April M was instructed to 'withdraw the certified copy of the Order in
Council and also the account in favor of Mrs Groener, the amount of which has been
altered.' On 17 April M replied that the instructions had been carried out and on
23 April Berry wrote: 'A/c in favor of Louisa Groener detached (£2.17.5) & forwarded
this day to the Treasury'.
