The honorable Graham Berry, MLA,
Chief Secretary.
Sir.
I have the honor to report my return from Clifton-Spring,
where I have carried on my daily Official correspondence, and where I finished the
10th Decade of the Eucalyptography.
Although my general health has improved on the seaside, yet my cough became only
slightly subdued. Under these circumstances I would solicit your permission, that
I may carry on my Office-work for a few weeks in Warragul,
where I can hope to obtain under the influence of the mild moist and equable forest
air improvement in my health, and where my Office work would daily be sent on to me.

Berry approved M's request on 21 January and M was immediately informed of his decision.
However, he then delayed his departure for several weeks; see M to T. Wilson, 15 February 1884.
I have the honor to be, Sir,
your obedient servant
Ferd. von Mueller.
