14. Nov. 1883.
To the honorable Graham Berry, M.L.A.
Chief Secretary.
Sir
I have the honor to report, that the annex to the bot. Museum is now completed, and
that yesterday the 38 cases of the Sonderian Collection were placed there by the Stores-
and Transport-Department.
So soon as the repositories will be ready, for the furnishing of which the public
works Department is now making arrangements, I shall be able to commence the unpacking
and give then and after the sorting and arranging is completed a fuller account of
the contents of this large collection.

See M to G. Berry, 20 October 1883 (in this edition as 83-10-20a).
2
No account by M has been found. Gallagher & Moraes (2014), p. 60, reported that 'less than 15 per cent
[of specimens]
are mounted and databased. Most of the material is still sto
red much as it was when it arrived at MEL 130 years ago: in bundles of intricately
interleaved paper folders containing loose specimens with loose labels'.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your obedient servant
Ferd von Mueller
