If my recollection carries me rightly, dear Mr Dyer, you wanted for Kew seeds of ,

and . These I now send; if however I am in error about these supposed wants of yours, then the seeds now transmitted wil not come amiss for your interchanges.
I was at the grand Return Ball given to the Mayor of Melbourne last night, and as I shared much in the dancing, and came home only at 4, — I feel tired to day.

The Argus, 10 September 1883 (Monday), has a report of the Ball 'last Thursday night'; some 1,100 people attended and 'dancing was kept up with spirit until an early hour'.
