I gave Lythrum Hyssopifolia the "benefit of the doubt" dear Professor, as I noticed
it already in my first excursions 1848 in vallies of the Mt Lofty Range,
but not on the plains. Emex I saw at Holdfast Bay
in 1847; it is
common
in W.A. Still perhaps both are best omitted in your list.

Sonneratia is excluded by the recent monographer of Lythraceae, (from whom I had only
a letter to day again)
from that order & readded to Myrtaceae, among which you will find it on Sheet I (now in print).

See Koehne (1881), p. 143; letter not found.

See B83.03.04, p. 60.
Melaleuca armillaris is not an inhabitant of Kang. Isl.
I believe the var. mentioned by Benth. to be a really good spec.
& when you come next to Kang. Isl. you will doubtless put us in possession of sufficient
material, to insert M. cylindrica RBr. as a novity
of S. A.

Bentham (1863-78), vol. 3, p. 146, under
M. armillaris, commented that R Brown's herbarium name
M. cylindrica
for a collection from Kangaroo Island was 'perhaps a distinct species'.

Regardfully
your
Ferd. von Mueller.
Some omissions have occurred, especially geographically, in transscribing; others
are due to the fault of the printer; all can be delt
with in the addenda at the end of the year. Perhaps you will keep your notes together
for me then.
