31/3/81.
I was much pleased, dear Professor Henriques, with your interesting lists of cryptogamic plants of Portugal.
1
Henriques (1880).
Meanwhile you will have received my lists of Acotyledoneae of Australia, nearly 3000 species.
2
Presumably the supplements to vol. 11 of M's Fragmenta (B80.11.01, B81.13.12).
I have also forwarded to you by this post the last edition of my "Select plants".
3
B81.01.04?
If a Portuguese translation could be brought out, I should give the permission gratuitously, and could furnish some additional manuscript notes.
4
A Portuguese translation, by Henriques, was eventually published in 1905; see B05.13.01.
The book ought to be very useful in Portugal, and ought also to sell well in Brazil, particularly there in the southern and in the higher mountain-regions. In all probability the Government of Portugal and of Brazil would purchase a number of copies for their public institutions of forests &c
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
You may be aware, that the Government of India published an edition of the "Select plants" in Calcutta last year.
