My dear Von Mueller
The has arrived & seemingly in very good order.

See M to J. Hooker, 20 July 1880.
We are having it potted & shall do our best to bring it round & shall let you know the result.
Very likely the Palms are, like the tree ferns, divisible into those that will, & those that will not stand that sort of "heroic" treatment.
We are constantly shifting our Palms in the Palm House from pots to tubs & from these to bigger tubs, & we find that some are killed by the process, others not.
I am extremely obliged for the Palm specimens, which are great prizes.
Ever sincerely yr
Jos. D. Hooker
The big tree fern trunk (D. antarctica) which you sent some 6 years ago is a splendid sight, & the goes on magnificently.
