Shall be glad, dear Mr Shillinglaw, to spend an evening with you some day soon & enjoy your enlightened conversation & hospitality.

Will furnish you for your book with a note on R Brown , also on the genus , of which R Brown named 2 species, one being from Amboina.

Ambon Island, Indonesia. Shillinglaw was writing a biography of Matthew Flinders, with whom Robert Brown (1773-1858) had circumnavigated Australia in 1801-3. The work was never published. was erected in R. Brown (1814), p. 595.

To these I added eight others, all but one from East Australia, the exceptional one from New Guinea

Species described by M are listed in Muir (1979). The Australian species were named in various numbers of M's Fragmenta; see APNI for details. papuana was named in B72.02.01, p. 84.
