My dear Sir
I am afraid I forgot last mail to write to you to say that I duly received the £100
for the 7th & last vol of Flora Australiensis
I am now very busy with Genera Plantarum
but I confidently hope to attack the last batch of Flora Australiensis in the autumn
— I feel rather fatigued but I am going to make a little trip to Florence which I
hope will set me up again.

Bentham (1863-78). See M to G. Bentham, 1 December 1873 (in this edition as 73-12-01a).
2
Bentham & Hooker (1862-83).
I was glad to hear from you that you had made a little excursion
— I saw Mr G. Macleay a few days since who has just returned safe home much benefitted
by his visit to Australia.

M spent Christmas 1873 with Dr Daniel Curdie in the Western District of Vic, after
measuring the heights of trees on the Upper Yarra (M to G. Bentham, 1 January 1874).
I think I mentioned in my last letter that I should be much obliged if you could send
the Monocotyledons so as to be here in the autumn.
It would be a great convenience if you could send for the herbarium at Kew specimens
of the various species published in your Fragmenta since the Flora as we have often
plants to name which we want to compare
Yours very sincerely
George Bentham
