M was required to resubmit all such requests on the new form that had been devised for this purpose; see M to J. Casey, 22 May 1873 (in this edition as 73-05-22k).
On 21 May 1873, Storie wrote to A. Wallis, Secretary for Agriculture, with further details of what was wanted: 'I have the honor on behalf of the Trustees of this Church to make application to the Minister of Agriculture through you for a supply of trees and plants as beneath — | 70 Insignis Pinus | a quantity of Cedrus Deodora | — Cupressus Torulosea | — Petosporum | — Lauristinus | — Sericanthus | — Laurel | — Coprosma Lucida | 3 Wellingtonea | In addition to these the Trustees would like a quantity of [...] plants for a hedge | I may explain that the Church Reserve extends over an acre of land and is at present wholly unplanted. The trees and plants are wanted to fill up the borders and also along the walks throughout the reserve. | Mr R. Harper, Secretary of Kyneton shire, who will visit Melbourne shortly to select plants &c for the Botanical Gardens has kindly undertaken the charge of whatever trees &c may be granted for the use of the Church. | Will you have the goodness to reply to this letter as soon as convenient to you, that Mr Harper may receive instructions as to what plants to provide cases for &c.'
