My dear Sir
By this mail I send you five sheets of the new volume of Flora Australiensis
1
Bentham (1863-78), vol. 6, probably sheets B - F (pp. 1–80).
— I have returned three more sheets for press but have not yet received the clean copies
I am glad to see by your last letter that the Monocotyledons with inferior ovary are on their way
2
See M to G. Bentham, 28 January 1873 (in this edition as 73-01-28b).
I have finished the all but three or four genera of one or two species each — and a general revision of the whole. I have I believe 45 genera and about 220 species which is less than I expected the published species of etc have cut down very much. I hope to send off your specimens next week
I am very sorry to hear that you do not get quite right yet in your Official position but I sincerely trust all will be settled to your satisfaction
You may rest satisfied that your wishes as to the mode of designating you in the title page will be attended to
3
See M to G. Bentham, 8 October 1872, and M to G. Bentham, 28 January 1873. On the title pages of vols 6 and 7 of Bentham (1863-78), M's name appeared as 'Baron Ferdinand von Mueller'.
I will put a copy of our new part of Genera Plantarum
4
Bentham & Hooker (1862-83), vol. 2, part 1.
