I am sorry, dear Mr Goyder, that I did not see you again before you left, as I was
anxious to enjoy with you a quiet evenings talk about Arnhem's Land &c
At this moment I would only remark, that the new set of Mr Schultz's plants
has arrived from the botanic Garden of Adelaide. They contain a few plants, new to Australia, but as far as I can yet see mostly not new to science.
Pray let me know, whether you intend to issue any publication on your survey. If so,
perhaps you would like me to write a few pages in elucidation of these plants.
1
i.e. Frederick Schultze, collector on Goyder's surveying expedition to the north coast of Australia to settle the site of
Darwin.

Because of M's 'excentrick
behaviour towards me
'
,
Schomburgk deliberately kept from M any unique specimens, which instead he sent to Kew (R. Schomburgk to G. Bentham, 19
August 1869 (in this edition as M69-08-16)).

Goyder did not publish a consolidated report on the expedition, although several progress reports and other papers related to the expedition are listed in the Index to the SA Parliamentary
Papers. M did not publish an independent report on the plants collected by Schultze.
With kind regards
Ferd. von Mueller
When
would you require my notes on the plants
