Dear Sir Redmond,
I am anxious to prepare some articles for the Colonial Exhibition
by chemical means from vegetable material and require for this purpose very much
to consult the two volumes of Muspratts Chemistry.
May my assistant, Mr Heyne, be permitted to bring the books to me and would you kindly
allow me to use them for a few days at my private home? Mr Heyne will give a receipt
for the loan of the books on my behalf

Muspratt (1860). The Public Library had added an edition of Muspratt’s Chemistry between the publication of its catalogue in 1861 and its supplementary catalogue
in 1865. It was recoded as 'n.d.', but an edition was being advertised in the British
press in 1860, the date used by the British Library.
