Letter marked: 'Has the remittce been returned to the Govt of Madras? 31.5.65 E.S.S.'.
Sir
In reply to your letter of the 15th instant
I have the honor to inform you, that I immediately after the receipt of a remittance
of the Madras Government communicated with the honorable the Chief Secretary, to learn
whether the money voted by the Victorian Government should be refunded or the remittance
be applied to obtaining new supplies of the tree-seeds. On learning from my honorable
Chief, that the fund should be returned I have acted accordingly.
