Sir
In reply to your circular-letter N.1085
I have the honor to inform you, that no
ballance
to the credit of Government by deposits from this establishment is left at the Bank of Australasia, into which hitherto the payments were made, that it is my intention to place in future
the Governments funds to be entrusted to my disbursement into the National Bank,
that the first deposit will be made in the amount for ordinary salaries and wages
at the first of June next, no payments arising in this department before that time,
and that no officer but myself is in receipt of Governments
funds in my establishment.

The circular specified 'National Bank of Australasia'.
I don't understand what is going on, were there two banks: one Bank of Australasia
and the other National Bank of Autralasia? So chased.
There were!
I am not certain whether there was a plain "national Bank" hence my note. Reason for
uncertainty is that I think that some newspapers were using "national Bank of Australasia:
and "National Bank" interchangeably. Didn't take the time to test this by trying to
find a person named as manager of bank under either name in the same place at same
time
