Dr. Mueller
Dear Sir,
I have very great pleasure — complying with the wish of the President — (G. B. Kerferd Esqr. J. P.) of this Institute — in writing you for the purpose of asking: whether you can grant the boon of a copy of your lately published & highly valued work to this Institute?
1
Presumably B62.03.03.
You must readily perceive that situated as we are, so far inland, that we lack many advantages which those situated nearer Melbourne possess; and the only way we have of presenting our interests is by letter, which is necessarily a very imperfect method for producing an impression.
I am sure, however, that you will appreciate our position, & will generously aid us when you can.
2
The request was enclosed with M to J. O'Shanassy, 3 May 1862.
Can you advise us as to the best means we can adopt in order to secure copies of the "Transactions of The Royal Society."?
3
Presumably the Transactions of the Royal Society of Victoria. The Transactions was not printed between vol. 5 (1861) and vol. 6 issued May 1865 (Editor's preface, vol. 6, pp. v-vi).
Apologizing for making such demands on your generosity & courtesy
I am
Dear Sir
Very Sincerely Yours
William Morton
