12 April 1861.
Sir
Referring to your minute, dated 7/2.61,

M to J. Moore, 4 February 1861, n. 3.
according to which you desired to entrust the supervision of the six Dromedaries to the zoological Committee and requested me to provide for the future care of the animals, I have the honor to report, that they have hitherto remained under the attendance of the Hindostan "Esau", who is evidently a trustworthy man, well acquainted with their requirements. The Bailiff Scott of Royal Park is moreover daily superintending the management of the Dromedaries.
Rations according to the schedule approved of by the Hon. the Chief Secretary are monthly issued, unless surplus rations remain available, and will according to the decision of the Hon. Chief Secretary be charged to the Exploration Vote, and of which also the maintainance and remuneration of the Lascar, I anticipate, is to be provided.
As the liquidation of wages and maintainance expenses for the Indian is due since some time, as well as the settlement of some smaller incidental accounts for articles required and supplied for the Dromedaries, I have the honor to solicit, that the hon. the Chief Secretary will be pleased to issue the authority to defray these pendent and fulture

Moore minuted approval for M's requisition on 16 April 1861 and told him the requisition had been forwarded to the Government Storekeeper: 'Dr Mueller can submit any accounts due for the maintenance of the camels. He will oblige by returning as soon as possible this paper and those marked 791 999'. M replied in a further minute on 17 April: 'Papers returned as desired & thanks hereby expressed for information'.
I have the honor to be
Sir
your most obedient servant
Ferd. Mueller.
