29 May 1860
Sir
I have the honor to inform you, that until noon of this day, no telegram has reached
me of "the S. Curling" being sighted at our coast.

See M to W. Henty, 15 May 1860, and M. to W. Henty, 12 June 1860.
In addition to the preparations in anticipation of the arrival of the Salmon as detailed
in my last letter, I arranged, that some of the purest mountain water was secured
at the Dandenong ranges 25 miles distant, and that Ova boxes, provided with an evercurrent
water supply, are kept in readiness for such salmon-ova or fry, as may be in too precarious
a state of health as likely to endure the voyage to Hobarton, should their temporary
detainment be approved of by the Tasmanian Government.
Altho' it is likely, that artificial ice, ordered both in Melbourne & Adelaide for
the refrigeration of the Salmon-tank, will be timely available (it being expected
to be furnished from both places this day), I would still solicit, that a few Ctw.
of ice might also be kept on board of the "City of Hobart" on her next trip, when
most likely the Salmon will be shipped. I have ventured to make the application for
this supply, since I have been very recently informed by Mr MacLanachan, M.P., that
considerable facility exist of obtaining ice from mount Wellington.

I have the honor to be
Sir
your most obedient & humble servant
Ferd. Mueller.
The Honorable
the Chief Secretary of the Tasmanian Government.
