Melbourne bot. Garden
31. March 1858
Sir
I have the honor to solicit, that you will permit the sum of one hundred pounds from
the vote for tools and apparatus to be devoted for incidental expenses during the
remaining portion of the year, as several items of the last quarterly requisitions
have been paid from the 100 £ originally destined for this purpose, which ought to
have been charged to the vote of tools & apparatus &c.
If the transfer of this vote should be sanctioned, I pray, that you will authorize
me to receive 25 £ for defraying the incidental expenses of this establishment for
the next quarter and that you also will be pleased to place the sum of 750 £ in advance
of the quarterly wages for April May and June at my disposal as well as the quarterly
advance of 125 £ for purchase of plants.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient and humble servant
Ferd. Mueller,
Director of the bot. Garden.
The honorable the Chief Secretary
