Melbourne bot. Garden,
22. Febr. 1858.
Sir
I have the honor of bringing under the notice of their Worships the members of the
City Corporation the desirability of improvements on the road, leading along the eastern
fence of the botanic garden to the Yarra.
Altho' this road at present is not much frequented, I beg to solicit for the improvements
of it on account of the increased traffic, which will arise by the new Yarra bridge,
now under work at the N. E. extremity of the bot Garden.
The lower portion of this road is during the rainy season on one place perfectly inundated,
causing serious damage to the fence and the adjoining borders of the garden.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient & humble
Ferd. Mueller,
Director of the bot. Garden.
The Chief Clerk of the City-Corporation
