It needs not my assurance, dear Mr Berthoud, that it will be very pleasing to me to
see you, and to consult with you, how your desire to travel in New Guinea could be
best gratified. I do not believe, that your wishes to visit the mountains of that
great island will be realized by any baloon excursions; but there ought to be no unsurmountable
difficulties for a resolute young and strong man to penetrate into New Guinea.
My temporary dwelling is on the St Kilda Road opposite the Generals House near the
toll-gate.
