Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Notes on Stipa micrantha of Cavanilles', Journal of botany, British and foreign , vol. 16, p. 327 (B78.11.02).
[ I asked Dr. Colmeiro, the meritorious Director of the Natural History Museum and Botanic Garden of Madrid, to send me an original specimen of Cavanilles' plant, if such was there still extant. With his usual urbanity and obliging kindness, he has just sent me a panicle of the very specimen on which Cavanilles' figure is founded.

Letter not found. MEL 95285 bears one of M's herbarium labels on which he wrote 'Stipa micranthera, Cav. An authentic specimen of Cavanilles, sent by Prof Colmeira. 1878', and two plain paper slips, one with M's comment 'Stipa micrantha Cavanilles!' and the other 'ded. Colmeiro, 1878' [Colmeiro gave it in 1878].
