MS annotation: 'Appd R.R. 17/2/75'. Robert Ramsay was Post-Master General in the Kerferd ministry and undertook the duties of the Chief Secretary when he and James Service remained in Melbourne while the remainder of the Ministry where on a cruise in the government vessel Victoria (see Argus , 27 January 1875, p. 1).
