Allow me, honored and venerable friend, to send you a few fragments of Stipa teretifolia Steudel (Diplachne stipoides
J. Hooker) and to ask you to inform me kindly whether, as I suppose, it is identical with La Billardière's Stipa flavescens. I am under the impression, that it is the
true plant of La Billardières, but this can only be ascertained by a comparison of his orginal specimen in your museum. The contracted
panicle is rather peculiar and so the
patent indument
on the outer sepal, which is fairly delineated by Poiteau or La Billardieres plate

Error for
Dichelachne stipoides?
2
Poiteau drew the species for tab. 30, Labilladrdière (1804-6), vol 1; it is discussed on p. 24.
If I can be of any utility here, pray command my services
