Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Semillas de Australia' [Australian
seeds], Anales de la Sociedad Rural Argentina, 1873, vol. 7, pp. 50-1. The text is followed by a note dated Buenos Aires, February
1873, comprising a list of 80 species and details of the arrangements for distribution
by the Secretary, together with some culture notes. It is not clear whether any or
all of this material paraphrases information supplied by M. The letter is dated to
October 1872 as the latest likely date that the consignment could have been sent from
Melbourne to London in time to be transferred to Tiber, which sailed for South America from Southampton on 24 December 1872 (Yorkshire post and Leeds intelligencer
, 26 September 1872, p. 2).
