MS found with a specimen of Freycinetia scandens (MEL 2269345), collected by R. Hewell but with no collection date recorded. The latest likely date of the letter is 1872, as the ADB entry reports O'Kane as sub-editing the Morning bulletin, Rockhampton, 'until 1872' after beginning editing it 'some time after 1865', and that he was editing the Northern miner in Charters Towers, Qld, from August 1873.

Dear Sir.
The enclosed Creeper was found by Mr Robert Hewell about 30 miles north of Rockhampton in the coast lands. The fruit looks like mulberry. It is supposed to be quite new. An account of it in the Argus would be of interest to us here.
I am yours truly
Thadeus O'Kane
