Dr Mueller
Dear Sir
Some months since you were kind enough to write me the name of a flower which I had
sent you.
Enclosed is another, from the bush, when growing it is one of the most delicate &
pretty flowers I ever saw. Unfortunately I cannot send you a nice specimen as I had
to send a boy to gather them & he allowed the flowers to fade & shrivel up. Dont mistake
it at first sight for a flower same color & shape which is
very
common in the bush. The peculiarity about this one, is the fringe to the petals —
like the finest feather — also that it opens at night or early morn & closes abt ten
O'clock a m — I had not much opportunity of noticing the plant, as it grows four miles
from here & never saw it after about the hour I name — It was in bloom abt two months
since.
I am dear Sir
Yours truly
Henry Wm Lamb
