Letter not found. The text given here is from the
Bulletin de la
Société impériale zoologique d'acclimatation
, series 2, vol. 7 (1870), p. 333. It is the beginning of a two-page summary of M's
report by 'A.A.D' and is printed in the May issue of the Bulletin, following the minutes
of the meeting of 18 March. The letter is dated to January 1870 as the latest likely
date that it could have been sent for the summary to be prepared by March 1870, but
it may have been sent at any time after its publication in July 1869.

sent from that city to the Society a copy of the report
that
he has sent to the English government
as official botanist of the government, and as director of the Melbourne botanical
garden;
t
his report is dated Melbourne,
14

1868; a
supplementary
