Letter not found. The text given here is from correspondence received, minutes of the meeting of the Belfast Borough Council held on 28 October 1868. The report in the Belfast gazette, 5 November 1868, p. 2, does not add any further information.
At the Belfast Borough Council meeting of 27 May 1868, the Mayor, E. Yorke, reported 'that while in Melbourne he had seen Dr Mueller with a view of obtaining some plants for the Gardens. The Town Clerk was instructed to send to Dr Mueller a plan of the Gardens and also a description of the soil, and to request Mr Binyon to take delivery of the plants and forward them' (Minute book 3, pp. 316-7; Belfast gazette, 4 June 1868, p. 2). This had presumably been attended to, however, long before October. No record has been found of correspondence on any other matter.
