M, who had been expected to propose the toast to 'The Medical Society of Victoria' and to reply to the toast to 'Kindred Societies', was not present at the dinner at the Café de Paris on 26 October 1865, and others present gave these speeches (Age (Melbourne), 27 October 1865, p. 5).
