Letter not found. For the text given here, see B89.06.03, in an article by Mee, ‘Recollections of “Durramboi”’, in the Brisbane courier. Mee is remembering the search for Ludwig Leichhardt by the Ladies’ Leichhardt Search Expedition in 1865-6. He reports having written to M before the expedition recommending the services of James Davis (‘Durramboi’), a man who had lived with Aborigines for 14 years. Mee writes: ‘I soon received a reply, couched in the Baron’s characteristically cordial style’.
