My dear Miss Henderson,
Mr M'Haffies presence offers unexpectedly a most excellent opportunity of sending
you the humble volumes, which I intended to bring myself. I have added some stray
plates of illustrations, prepared for the continuation of these works. Altho' this
is a very imperfect series of what is ready, it may be sufficient for showing that
the lithographic printer as well as the draftsman are improving in their displays
I have not yet obtained an official answer from the Government to my application for
leave of absense, but learned privately that my propositions were favorably received
by the Cabinet.
I was much delighted to hear, that we may enjoy here your and your sisters visit so
much earlier than we anticipated. Perhaps I shall to morrow have the happiness of
hearing from you, probably however not in time to communicate with Mr M'Haffie before
his departure, which is fixed for to morrow forenoon.
Very regardfully, dear Miss Henderson, yours
Ferd. Mueller.
